Kids paint & spin pottery class

This class was designed to allow children to experience clay on the wheel. Kids will be guided through how to make pottery on the wheel and have creative freedom to paint their pot whilst the wheel spins.

Please note: These classes are suitable for ages 6 and up.
For children under 10, a supervising adult must be present and booked into the session

(one adult per two children).

Due to our limited studio space, adults are not able to attend purely as spectators, and children cannot be dropped off. All attendees must have a booked seat in the class.

Cost: $89.00 (inc. gst)

Includes: 1 x class

Duration: 90mins

Create: 1 vessel each (1 x 500g clay)

Clay body: Raku

Kids will experience what it’s like to jump on the wheel and throw with clay. They will learn the basic mechanics of throwing clay on the wheel.
Techniques and methods will be shared and discussed and put into practice with words and hand gestures that make sense to kids so they understand the steps. The special thing about this class is that kids will get to paint their pot as the wheel spins with our range of underglazes!
The vessels created will then have a translucent glaze added to them to make it food safe and dishwasher safe. The turnaround time for finished pots is about 4-6 weeks.
This class is a calming and enjoyable experience for kids. 1 parent is required to sit in per 2 children.
Please note that children aged 12 and over are welcome to attend the class on their own. For children under 12, a parent or guardian must attend and provide supervision as well.

Age Requirements: These classes are suitable for 10+ year olds. Parents are required to attend/partake in class for children under 10-years-old, so don't forget to book in early to reserve your spots.

How it works

Get in touch

Book a day/time for your first & second class. You can book online on our website.
Session one

Kids attend the studio & create 1 vessel and learn the basics of Wheel throwing.
Drying/firing & glazing

Throughout the 4 - 6 weeks your pots will dry in our studio, be fired twice and dip glazed.
Collect your vessel

Pick up your vessel from the studio or have it posted to you (shipping charges apply).

School holiday program

If you wish for your child to attend a wheel throwing class, keep your eyes peeled for our school holiday program, where age limits do not apply for our Kids Paint ‘n’ Spin (Parents and Guardians must attend).
