Welcome to Clay Temple.co, a creative haven where art, mindfulness & community intersect.

Established in 2023, Clay Temple.co is dedicated to nurturing creativity and fostering a deeper connection with oneself through the timeless art of pottery nestled in the oldest part of Tamborine Mountain, Gallery Walk.

Our story

Perched quietly on the mountain, Clay Temple.co is a sanctuary where creativity takes root and flourishes. Here, the elements of earth, water, and fire come together, inviting exploration, reflection, and hands-on discovery. In this intimate space, the rhythm of the wheel slows time, allowing students to be present and fully immersed in the meditative beauty of shaping clay.

It is a place where skill and curiosity grow side by side, where the process of making becomes as meaningful as the finished piece. Clay Temple exists as a haven for those seeking to reconnect with their artistic instincts while engaging deeply with the elemental forces of nature. Each creation is born not only from the hands but from the patience, awareness, and quiet energy of the space itself.

Life is fast.

Pottery is slow.

Small classes

At Clay Temple.co, one of the things we’re most proud of is the intimate & nurturing environment we offer.

Our wheel-throwing classes are intentionally kept small, creating a supportive and unhurried environment where learning can happen with care and clarity. This allows space for individual guidance, gentle adjustments, and conversations around the process, not just the finished piece.

We approach wheel throwing as both a skill and a mindset. The journey often begins with curiosity and interest, followed by determination, patience, and persistence. Our teaching focuses on building strong foundations from the very beginning, including an understanding of pressure, angles, body positioning, and even the moments that happen before you sit at the wheel. These early layers help students develop awareness, confidence, and a deeper connection to the process.

What we are most proud of is our 6-week course, designed around the student rather than the studio. It offers a clear framework while remaining flexible enough to respect real lives and real schedules. Students can choose a more structured learning path or a more creatively open approach, depending on how they learn best and what they want to explore week to week.

The course is built to support continuity and growth, recognising that progress on the wheel can be slow, layered, and deeply rewarding. Through guidance, context, and practical tools, we help students move through the first stages of wheel throwing with intention, grounded in fundamentals, supported in creativity, and encouraged to develop at their own pace.

Pottery for all ages

At Clay Temple.co, we are delighted to welcome children into our creative community.

While many studios reserve wheel throwing for older teens and adults, we are passionate about making this experience available to families, including kids throughout school holidays but all year round.

Our studio is designed to be a fun, safe & inspiring place where all ages can enjoy the joy of pottery together.

What we stand for

  • At Clay Temple.co, we prioritise personal connection over quantity. Unlike larger studios with numerous wheels and impersonal instruction, we offer small class sizes, with a maximum of six students per session. This ensures that each participant receives personalised attention and guidance.

  • Pottery is more than a craft; it’s a practice in mindfulness and self-expression. We are dedicated to helping our students experience the therapeutic benefits of working with clay.

For Dyllan Joyce, pottery has been a profound way to overcome personal challenges and connect deeply with the present moment. We extend this opportunity to our students, helping them find their own path to calm and creativity.

  • We aim to build a vibrant, inclusive community where everyone feels welcome.

We are proud to offer pottery experiences for children and families, fostering creativity from a young age and making art accessible to all. We also welcome diverse groups and private events, ensuring that everyone has a chance to experience the joy of pottery.

  • We are committed to giving back to our community. Through our studio, we strive to support local initiatives and contribute positively to our surroundings.

Our goal is to use our craft to make a difference, whether by hosting community events, offering scholarships, or participating in local charitable activities.

Our mission

At Clay Temple, our mission is to guide people through the beginning of their wheel-throwing journey with intention, patience, and clarity. We focus on teaching strong foundations before speed or output, helping students understand not just how to make a piece, but how and why the process works.

We prioritise mindset as much as technique, encouraging curiosity first, followed by determination, persistence, and creative confidence. Our teaching emphasizes context, including pressure, angles, body awareness, and the moments that happen before the wheel even begins to spin.

Through small, supportive classes, we create a space where learning can unfold at an individual pace. Our goal is to help students approach wheel throwing with confidence, respect for the process, and a lasting connection to the craft.

Our vision

Our vision is to create a warm, welcoming environment where creativity thrives and every individual feels valued.

We believe that pottery is a powerful tool for personal and communal well-being.

Through our intimate classes and workshops, we strive to offer not just technical skills but also a meaningful experience that helps our students reconnect with the present moment and with the elemental nature of clay.
